We understand the need for our business to be adaptable and we recognise the effect that climate change is having now and will continue to have on our future generations, local communities and the planet. Driven by our hotel's greener future teams taking ownership of their properties' carbon footprint we will ensure we deliver our 2040 targets with integrity.
Our Bold policies and strategies support each hotel in its reduction of energy use and water consumption as well as our group-wide commitment to send zero waste to landfill. With these activities alongside our pillars, we’re driven to deliver a more sustainable future today.
What a way to start the year; our first award of 2024 and our first ever Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) award!
Since the beginning of last year we’ve been aiming to decrease overall environmental impacts, especially through water and electricity consumption across our hotels, as well as reducing the ecological footprint by running as efficiently as possible.
We’re super proud of this award and as we look to the future with our ongoing commitment to reduce single use plastics across our collection of hotels, below are just some of the initiatives we’ve invested in that helped us bring home the trophy:
- 100% renewable energy is used across all our hotels
- Bamboo keys are now available and being trialled at The Cumberland (also being explored for all of our other hotels too)
- Bulk toiletries now in The Cumberland and The Clermont with all other brands to be in place before Easter
- We’ve launched an internal initiative, encouraging employees to submit ideas on how to further reduce emissions – with the best idea winning £1000
- There is a major capital plan for the Greener Futures initiatives for the coming financial year to ensure the focus remains on driving the green agenda
